Here To Stay!

Sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words. I know the document in this one is quite blurred. It is of a British passport...my British passport...my British passport that entitles me to come and go as I want from the UK and ends the threat of deportation that has been hanging over my head for the past 3 months.
Finding out on my re-entry into England in July that unless I went through a set of procedures that seemed pretty difficult for me to go through, I would be deported from the country I was born in to a country I'd never been to has weighed on my mind. Knowing that I could be plucked away from all of the people and places that I know and love for a number of years regardless of what I was to do (any application I would have made could have been subject to the same scrutiny and decision-making processes that landed me in the ridiculous position in the first place) has not been enjoyable to say the least.
3 months of uncertainty on this topic ended yesterday morning when we got a knock at the door and a package containing my British passport was handed to me. I am now officially British and just in case any of the Canadian FA are reading, it's worth knowing I maintain my Canadian nationality :)
This good news gives me cause to celebrate. I think I'll be paying a visit to the Red Bull Football Freestyle gig in Newcastle on Saturday...as a spectator, of course. Rock and roll, I know!
I'll blog soon about where things go from here.

Congratulations Arton! Being a huge supporter of your TBA project, I had been so anxious following the deportation fiasco. As I've mentioned before, I believe you represent what many of us amateur and semi-pro footballers aspire to do. Now that your residency status is solved, hopefully your project will kick back into full gear! All the best for your next course of action, whatever it may be...I'll definately be eager to hear what you have planned!
